Inspiring Minds through Design

Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) come easily to some people but not all.  Some students and adults struggle to grasp these concepts, because they are not explained in a way they can understand. The teaching method and the learning method do not match up. Additionally, many people view STEM as completely separate fields from art and design. They feel they must choose one field over the other; when in fact, both are equally important and depend on one another.

I specialize in designing graphics and simple animations that break complex STEM topics down into clear, easy to understand visual imagery.  These designs are geared to assist visual learners, hands-on-learners, and those who struggle to grasp STEM concepts regardless of their learning style.  I also specialize in creating teaching materials that show people how art and science are connected through science themed art and crafts.

I have a Bachelors of Science and Masters of Science in Atmospheric Science, and an Associates of Applied Science in Art and Design. I currently work as an Educational Instructor at a space science museum where I teach STEM activities for various educational programs for guests of all ages. Previously, I taught Intro to Atmospheric Science lab courses for two years as a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee and also worked as an operational meteorologist for three years at Innovative Weather.
